With the entire state of NSW in drought, there’s no doubt many farming communities are doing it tough. Even with the recent rainfall, the NSW Department of Primary Industries August seasonal update has confirmed that:
Dry conditions are predicted for spring which could yet make the situation worse. Fortunately, there are ways you can help farmers and their families through these testing times.
Local Fundraising For Farmers
- Bomaderry Charity Trust and the Bomaderry Bowling Club Bowlers are staging a mega cash bingo session this Saturday 15th September. Cash prizes, raffle and lucky door prizes are all on offer with proceeds will going towards assisting NSW’s drought-stricken farmers. Make sure you get down to Bomaderry RSL Club from 11am to 2pm.
- Local South Coast MP Shelley Hancock is collecting donations (goods and funds) at her Nowra office and plans to host a Big Drought Relief Fundraiser at New South Wales Parliament House in the near future.
Last week the Nowra Country Women’s Association raised more than $2000 and Shoalhaven City Turf Club’s drought race day raised more than $12,000 for local farmers.
